Overall Satisfaction with SAP Business Network

In our organization, we primarily use SAP Business Network for supplier collaboration, tracking purchase orders, and managing invoices. To connect directly with vendors, share documents securely on a single platform, and track transactions in real time. Business problems it addresses are manual errors in purchase order management and invoice processing. We mainly use SAP Business Network for procurement-related processes.

Pros

  • Real-time order tracking: When a purchase order is created, suppliers can confirm it directly in the system. We can then see the status immediately without having to chase them via email.
  • Supplier interaction: Vendors can upload shipping details, update delivery dates, or report issues directly on the platform.
  • Analytics and insights: Aystem provides dashboards that show spend by category, supplier performance, and payment cycle.

Cons

  • User interface and navigation: For new users, simple tasks like searching for a specific purchase order or invoice require multiple clicks.
  • Small Suppliers: Smaller suppliers sometimes struggle to establish a presence on the network. The registration process is lengthy, and individuals often require additional knowledge and training.

We collaborate with the trading partners mainly for purchase orders, invoice management, and the shipment cycle. Instead of relying on email exchanges or others, for example, when a purchase order is issued, our suppliers can confirm it directly in the system and provide expected delivery dates. If there are any changes, they update them in the same place, so we no longer need to chase them for updates.
Yes, SAP Business Network has helped our organization respond to suppliers and others more quickly in the event of supply chain disruptions. The real-time visibility into orders and shipments provides us with an early warning system, allowing us to act before issues escalate. It has improved our ability to mitigate risk and maintain continuity.
SAP Business Network has focusly increased our visibility across the supply chain by providing a single platform where we can see the full status life cycle of purchase orders, shipments, and invoices in real time.
The reason I didn’t give it a full 10 is that the the initial learning curve can be hard, especially for new users and smaller suppliers(less thank thousands order per month). The interface could also be more intuitive in some areas. However, overall usability is excellent, and the benefits far outweigh these minor challenges.

If your organization processes a large number of purchase orders and invoices every month/year, SAP Business Network is very effective, whereas smaller vendors without strong IT support sometimes struggle with setup and ongoing use. making onboarding and training a barrier.

8 - Currently, 8 people uses SAP busines network. They mainly represent's procurement , supply chain and finance functions.procurement team handles supplier onboarding and purchase orders, the finance people handles invoicing and payment processes, and the supply chain team monitors order status and delivery parameters through the network. Together, these teams ensure smooth end-to-end management and supplier interaction.
3 - the team should include professionals with different and complementary skills.This mainly involves SAP Business Network consultants who uunderstand procurement, supplier handling, and integration workflows, technical specialists experienced in SAP Integration Suite, APIs, and middleware platforms and support analysts skilled in issue resolution, supplier onboarding, and transaction monitoring.Strong communication and problem-solving skills are also essential for seamless collaboration between business users, suppliers, and IT teams.
