Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We moved from an IM only managed warehouse in ECC to 22 EWM warehouses in S/4HANA over the last year. Inventory visibility is significantly improved with the change. We don't do much with the automation layers just yet.

Pros

  • Inventory visibility in the plant

Cons

  • When you go from IM to EWM, it increases transaction load significantly. I'd like to see more automated methods and options for handling the transaction increase as we've had to add staffing

Return on Investment

  • We haven't been able to identify any true savings as a result of EWM.

In our organization, the SAP Extended Warehouse Management Crossdocking process was implemented. We also were able to track people with labor management with SAP Extended Warehouse Management.
