Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I am SAP Basis Admin. working in service support Organization. We have several SAP customers uses SAP NetWeaver application server with different databases.

We have SAP ABAP , JAVA and ABAP+JAVA servers as well in support for different customers across the globe.

We also have different- different versions and products based on SAP NetWeaver.

Pros

SAP Netweaver supports many databases like oracle ,MSSQL ,DB2 ,HANA ,sybase etc
It is reliable and also supports different OS like windows , Linux etc
We can host on cloud also like GCP,AWS,Azure etc or even on premise as well
Default memory management is very good, we donot need to worry about memory parameters until we face critical issue. SAP manages memory usage quite well.

Cons

sometimes in linux OS we face several issues during start and stop. Sometimes Zombie process still exists after clean shutdown that time we need to manually kill those processes otherwise it might not start properly. Here SAP can improve.

Likelihood to Recommend

Well suited :- where traffic / no.of users using SAP huge and working same time we can setup additional application servers and divide load. we can even do load balancing based on user type like functional user can use dedicated application server. Bacground scheduled job can use dedicated application server. that is possible in SAP.

This ERP application helps our customer meet all modules to run for a business like Finance, Sales, Marketing, Purchasing, Logistics, Administration, even Car-parking tickets. The application capability of getting used via Cloud services like Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, Alibaba, Oracle makes its use more & more vast for meeting End-Users needs

Cons

Cryptocurrency easy integration should be available
Healthcare like Neuro-sciences easy use should be provided
Use for AI for Astronomy should be more enhanced

Likelihood to Recommend

The SAP Netweaver Application Server is well suited when it comes to having one-stop ERP solution to meet all business needs. This ERP module has all Functional areas & all Buness modules like Finance, Sales, Marketing, Production Planning. It is less appropriate when a business is very small & can mitigate their purposes via small softwares like Tally ERP, or say use JDEdwards to do small scale use only

It is being utilized across the whole organization. It is helping us maintain item ordering catalogs, track HR-related things and is the avenue we use to place orders. It keeps items organized.

Pros

SAP NetWeaver is very good at loading items quickly to view and edit.
SAP NetWeaver is very easy to navigate and is intuitive.
SAP NetWeaver is able to perform many different functions, from purchasing to HR and contract management.

Cons

SAP NetWeaver could provide better help desk ticket options.
SAP NetWeaver could make user access requests go quicker.
SAP NetWeaver could allow for a general, full site search option using keywords.

Likelihood to Recommend

SAP NetWeaver is well suited for contract file storage and management. SAP NetWeaver is less appropriate for entering in time and attendance.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

SAP is used by departments across the whole organization. The users have a level of access to execute their tasks. Each department's head is responsible for making adjustments required by other areas. Export formats are usually a bit old but that's because of the version we used. The password reset process is slow but I think it is due to security reasons.

Pros

Autorization by level

Cons

In the beginning, it's kinda hard to learn.
The reports are full of data but in some transactions there are missing options.
Not too easy for a custom format.
We are using an old version and the exports formats are too old.

Likelihood to Recommend

It's very powerful to control inventories of your products. You need to go step by step with all the involved persons/departments to get the results pre-authorized. Each one of us must check and confirm the request before it goes to another one. Is very important to analyze the request and create it.
