Symantec Endpoint Protection is being used by the global Ford Motor Company organization. All the computers owned by the company have this software installed as default. It protects our hardware/software from online and local threats (spyware, virus, malware etc.).
  • Different scan options available based on the needs (Active scan: 1-2 minutes / Full scan: 30-120 minutes).
  • Easy capture and removal of malware, spam, virus etc.
  • Live Update on protection database - makes you feel safe all the time.
  • Easy access to logs (Threat protection, Virus & Spyware, Network Mitigation...).
  • Simple interface and easy management of all the tools/features.
  • The administrative console gives rights to admins.
I think Symantec Endpoint Protection provides very good protection from all kind of threats. Due to the lean interface, it is sure easy to use. However, set up and start up is time-consuming. It can cause old computers to slow down during start up. Overall, it does perform at the top level as a business-level endpoint protection solution. I feel very safe while working at the office as I've never encountered any issues with this software before. Any kind of spyware or malware is defeated instantly by the help of this up-to-date database.

Endpoint Encryption works well. We have deployed it on all company laptops and it has provided needed protection for our data. It is fairly straightforward to install and use. Good product to have for security.
  • The user experience and the robust combination of PGP and SEE to make SEE 12 has been outstanding.
  • E-mail, file and whole disk encryption are excellent features that give great protection for my environment.
Legal and compliance departments are required to have all the desktops' hard drives encrypted and to provide the complete inventory to demonstrate that the encryption covers all the computers in the firm. I would recommend other customers to consider SEE as encryption solution.

There have been some challenges with Symantec Endpoint Encryption over the years through the integration of the two products (GuardianEdge and PGP) however, these problems have been resolved and a great product has come out. Symantec Endpoint Encryption has been used to help manage our self-encrypting drives, BitLocker encrypted devices and even our Mac machines through FileVault.
The product is great for managing our encrypted needs on all of our devices and also enables our helpdesk to deal with users who forget their passphrase or need help resolving the issue.
  • Helps with all of our devices, Windows and Mac
  • Manages FileVault, BitLocker, self-encrypting Drives, and PGP encryption
Symantec Endpoint Encryption is a great product for organizations that have different devices and/or operating systems (OS).

Worth a Try!

Symantec Endpoint Protection is being used by our Healthcare industry customers to encrypt emails that may contain patient information.
  • Ease of use for end users. The outlook add in helps with encryption.
  • The auto encrypt rules are very intuitive and work every time.
  • Encryption strength.
We used this for our customers from car dealerships that dealt with credit histories, etc, through healthcare providers. It worked well to auto encrypt specific criteria. I would recommend to any company the use of Symantec Endpoint. From the ease of use for end users to the auto encrypt policies, this software is worth a try.

We use Symantec Endpoint Encryption in our remote laptops to protect against any data theft in the event a laptop is lost or stolen. Since many remote users tend to keep a majority of their files stored locally, this is more important than someone located in the office where a majority of files are located on a network drive.
  • We can manage and view the status of each client from a centralized server.
  • It sync passwords with the local Windows account so there are no additional passwords the user needs to remember.
  • Our help desk is able to use the One-time password feature if the passwords get out of sync and the user is locked out.
We find it very difficult to manage. Users are always needing their passwords reset as they rarely stay in sync with Windows. And from a security standpoint, if the user account is compromised, then the encryption is useless because it's the same password. The time to encrypt or decrypt a drive seems much longer than I would expect and many users experienced a huge decrease in performance with an encrypted drive.

At my small hospital we use Symantec Endpoint Encryption to protect our roaming devices. We needed a solution that didn't require Microsoft Windows Enterprise (bitLocker) and didn't require the end user to sign in with different credentials. The pre-os screen prompts the end user for their Active Directory sign-in and then bypasses the windows sign in and uses the already captured credentials.
  • Single Sign On
Symantec Endpoint Encryption is nice for medium to large companies. For small companies they may choose to go with a freeware product that performs the same end results without the SSO capability to save money.

Symantec Drive Encryption best in class

Rating: 10 out of 10
January 04, 2016
Symantec Drive Encryption is currently being used across the whole organization. It is used to help protect customer data and allow us to be compliant with the different types of customers that we deal with on a daily basis. The Drive Encryption product is very user friendly and does not affect our day to day work.
  • Symantec Drive Encryption does 256 byte encryption.
  • Connects to Active Directory to allow for single sign-on.
  • Automatically encrypts drives without needing user interaction.
  • If I forget my password the software has recovery tokens to allow access to the drive. Recovery tokens are provided from the management server.
The product is outstanding but the newest release does not support Mac clients but will allow you to manage FileVault. The product also is going to have the ability to manage BitLocker which will be good for environments that use BitLocker and struggle with zero management.
