My company, Scan Mailboxes, scans all customers' mail items worldwide. They are able to read clear images from their phones wherever they are. In other words, they never miss important mail! Kofax Capture helps us scan hundreds, if not thousands, of items of mail on a daily basis as long as the United States Postal Service is open. We also collect packages and parcels from UPS, FedEx, DHL, Amazon, and all other mail carriers. We currently have three different Kofax Capture scanners that do the job quickly.
Pros
Fast
Straightens the letter, no matter how we scan
Eliminates holes
Cons
Would like to see its scan quality improve
If only we could read handwritings!

It has to use windows. It doesn't work with Apple products.
Use case: It is used by Accounts Payable team to capture the Invoice from Vendors and Employees digitally and automatically book them in ERP. The digital copies are also linked to ERP.
Benefits of using Kofax Capture: This helps in keeping the healthy relationship with Vendors and Employees because they receive their payments within the deadline.
Pros
It captures the Invoice from Vendors digitally.
It automatically books Vendor Invoices in ERP.
It also links the digital copies of the Invoice with ERP.
Cons
Image recognition can be improved.
Storage Size of digital invoice copies can be increased
Kofax Capture is used to scan and index various documents and forms. Some documents are forms that we send to our clients to complete and return. These have barcodes on them to assist with the scanning and indexing process. Others may be free form documents that are clients send into us. One example might be a letter that is sent in to address a concern or ask a question about their account.
Pros
Scanning
Indexing
Integrates into our Business Processes
Cons
Configuration could be easier
Be able to do more with less scripting
Likelihood to Recommend
Kofax [Capture] meets our needs and for the most part is easy to use and setup. Configuration could be a little bit easier. The scripting language is a double edge sword if you will. It gives you nearly unlimited possibilities to script what you need, but the downside is you have to script it. Does a good job at batching and scanning documents. The tool integrates well into our workflow which makes our business partners happy and in turn provides for happy customers.

Kofax Capture provides a conduit where emails, paper documents, and files stored in folders to all be normalized and processed so that useful information can be extracted and used in business. For all the implementations I have done the information has been put into a format that back-end systems could easily process, along with the image in a TIFF or PDF format, to let a customer-initiated process be resolved and processed faster than previous manual entry operations.
Pros
The VRS application included with Kofax Capture is the best image pre-processing platform available on the market today. It can handle a wide array of common document problems such as skew, flipping, wrinkles, lines, and dots.
The platform is incredibly scriptable and can be customized to handle all sorts of unusual document contents to allow information to be extracted that many other platforms just struggle on. Table extraction, line item matching, and smart extraction are all strong points with this platform.
Through the use of SBL and .NET the platform can be expanded and scaled quite easily to allow for the software to be integrated into existing business processes and platforms with ease.
Cons
Kofax Capture's interface is antiquated and could use a refresh. An attempt was made two versions back to add ribbons and modernize the interface but anything below the first level looks and feels like a tired application.
Bugs that have existed in the platform for years are still prevalent and there is no priority to fix them. Features and critical bugs are regularly fixed but simple nagging ones that can cause a development project to close and lose all work is commonplace.
Licensing, while reasonable for lower volume solutions, becomes expensive once a project reaches a certain threshold. Ensure future planning capacity is done before purchasing to make sure it's a cost effective solution.

If there is a desire to extract text from emails, documents, spreadsheets, and faxes this is the perfect platform for that. The only thing it does, extracting information, it does well. External information in terms of flat files, databases, and web services can be tied into the platform as well to allow line item matching, address validation, and other features that make it just an overall great ingestion system.

I have been working with an educational institute for the past 3 years, we use Kofax Capture regularly to process students' documents to keep all the records safe. Kofax Capture improved visibility within our organization by capturing paper and electronic documents. By processing documents using Kofax Capture, it made it easier to distribute the digitized documents within the organization.
Pros
Digitized the documents
Provides document indexing
Supports Cloud, SaaS, and Wed
24x7 Prompt Support
Cons
Need basic training before start using Kofax Capture
GUI can be improved bit more
Does not support Version control

Kofax Capture is an appropriate application where a large number of documents need to be scanned and digitized for further use. Kofax Capture is suitable for large organizations like educational institutions, hospitals, and accounting departments.
We are in the healthcare industry and use Kofax to scan medical information into the our EHR.
Pros
Images are easy to manipulate prior to incorporating them into the electronic health record.
It is very easy to use and compatible with our current software.
Very useful for our batch scanning needs.
Cons
We have at least 10+ licenses so it can be somewhat pricey.
Likelihood to Recommend
We use it specifically for data capture of printed medical text. It scans bar codes on recognizing labs, encounter notes, prescriptions, and outside medical records. The business office uses the program for billing and scanning purposes.
Kofax capture was used across the whole organization. We used to use it to digitize documents to be stored in an electronic records management system (Oracle Universal Content Management System/Filenet before that).
Some of the ways we used to use it is to capture:
<ul><li>Construction plans and blueprints.</li><li>Construction contracts</li><li>Audit Review Files</li></ul>Our users tried to make efforts to make themselves less reliant on paper by digitizing all their documents that were held up in file cabinets. It was easier to distribute digitized documents throughout the organization as and when needed.
Pros
One of the things we relied on Kofax was its connector with Oracle UCM and Filenet. It was easy to configure batch classes and set up release scripts to UCM or Filent
One other aspect of it was validation scripts based on external Oracle databases. It was very helpful.
After removal of dongle, it became easier to maintain the software.
Cons
We struggled with configuring Kofax with AP Automation. We used to receive vouchers in different formats by different companies, by different departments. The people from different departments used to scan those vouchers through regular scanners to a central location, which ended up as image pdfs. We fed these image pdfs through Kofax Capture for character recognition, which was painful as the accuracy of recognition was 50 to 60%.
Having a connectors with a workflow tool would be helpful where people can validate and approve the output.
More samples and documentation related to use of API in .NET applications would be a good improvement, that would help users to adapt the product easily into their organization.

Some of the best uses of:
Kofax Capture is making the organization paperless.
Redaction of organization's document if being distributed to the general public.
It is not suited for applications where the documents being captured are of various formats and layouts and they need to be relied upon for the use of coversheets in order to be digitized.

It was used to import paper Adoption records into the EMC Application Extender ECM system.
Pros
Processed batches.
OCR - Optical Character Recognition processing.
User workflow.
Cons
Error handling.
GUI updated.
Likelihood to Recommend
It is well suited as a document capture in front of an ECM system where indexes are well defined for each type of page. It is less appropriate where it needs to automatically find indexes on the pages.
Kofax is used by all departments of the company. Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Contract Administration. By using Kofax, Accounts Payable is able to catalogue and sort all of checks and wire confirmations through different criteria and parameters. It can sort by vendor, by date, by type of document, and by source. At Accounts Receivable, it allows for quick and simple reconciliation of all bank deposits and it also recognizes payments by checks or wires from different clients and vendors. At contract administration, it is able to recognize through barcodes and through different algorithms where the documents belong depending on the type of document it has scanned.
Pros
Recognition of checks and it's backup
Recognition of bank deposit slip and checks that belong to that slip
Recognition of where a contract begins and where it ends
Cons
Improvement of number and date recognition in check stubs
Likelihood to Recommend
Kofax is well suited for cataloguing massive amounts of paperwork from accounting and being able to filter it and place it in databases.
