Virtuous is the Cadillac of Nonprofit Fundraising CRMs.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Virtuous in our agency for nonprofit fundraising and donor management purposes. Many of our clients use this software to keep records of donor giving history and tax-deductible gift transactions. It is a one-stop shop because not only can you manage donor files, but you can run reports and queries of donor gift history and assess the health of donor files to see how new and recurring donors are interacting with your nonprofit. You can also run email campaigns inside the program and set up campaign groupings for any digital marketing or direct mail acquisition you plan to incorporate in your strategy.

Pros

  • Virtuous is great for donor record management.
  • Virtuous allows you to run detailed reports on donors and giving history.
  • Virtuous allows you to deploy different marketing campaigns within the platform itself.

Cons

  • Virtuous only keeps track of contacts on forms for a given period of time, not the lifetime of when the form was deployed.
  • Virtuous Customer Support can sometimes lag, and you end up waiting days for a response to your inquiry or issue.
  • Virtuous reporting, while very detailed and segmented, can sometimes be a little overwhelming, and the terminology does not always translate to what you are looking to accomplish with your reporting outcomes.

Return on Investment

  • Virtuous has allowed our clients to keep a detailed record of donor and constituent giving history and engagement with the organization.
  • Reporting features have enabled us to see which digital and traditional marketing campaigns are resonating with donors and which need evaluation.
  • Automated workflows allow donors to go through a series of touchpoints without having to manually send them through or keep tabs on reminders when they interact or are on the verge of lapsing.

Virtuous CRM - in my opinion, The Lying Dirty No-Good CRM that charges 1000s to charities for Nonsense

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I worked with a Nonprofit charity and helped them migrate to Virtuous CRM. They use it for marketing, communications, donor tracking, and reports.

Pros

  • Market themselves
  • Oversell their platform
  • Under-deliver

Cons

  • Sales associates with basic knowledge of platform capacity
  • Offering an “event” platform that’s more than just ticketing
  • Actually providing donor migration services when donor migration services are offered
  • UI and UX

Return on Investment

  • Incredibly negative financial impact
  • Trained staff for a year and it’s still a struggle
  • Minimum year contracts lock us into purgatory of CRMs
  • Promised donor token migration then after signing backed out leaving monthly donations on hold for months
  • Promised event platform was merely basic ticketing (Eventbrite WAY better)
  • User interface and experience needs serious improvements- very cumbersome

Virtuous is a fine software

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We currently work with thousands of nonprofits and many of them are using Virtuous. We actually use Virtuous with multiple of those clients in a much more hands-on level. The goal of virtuous CRM for all of our clients is to store donor data and help nurture the relationship between the nonprofit and their donors.

Pros

  • User-friendly CRM.
  • Knowledgable support staff.
  • Allows for email marketing on a mass level.

Cons

  • Does not currently have action based/click based email marketing automation capabilities.
  • Lacks integration with any other tools we/our nonprofits are using.
  • Expensive, even just for the support they charge hourly.

Return on Investment

  • Better donor management.
  • Better predictive analytics on donors and giving numbers.
  • Increases were seen in overall revenue since joining with Virtuous.
