Adobe Dreamweaver the Standard for Students
Overall Satisfaction with Adobe Dreamweaver
Adobe accounts are required for the degree, and Dreamweaver is its own course at BSC. We sample other HTML editors, but Dreamweaver is the standard. It addresses the need for speed as you enter code, as well as the need to remember elements and properties- you don't need to with Dreamweaver. It suggests what you need and makes editing and design more in-depth.
Pros
- Noting errors by line
- CSS editing
- Providing code - You don't need to type everything out
Cons
- Space - you have to download the software on your hard drive
- Cost - It's a monthly subscription and not open source
- RAM - You need enough RAM to run Adobe products, and if you don't have enough it will crash and you can lose hours of work.
- Accessibility - It provides and easy to read and see interface.
- Speed - Its fast as soon as you learn it.
- Cost - The cost is reduced for students.
- Learning curve - not everyone grasps it fast.
- Overall cost on students.
- Errors and crashing are occasional but not welcome.
- Sublime Text and Notepad++
Adobe Dreamweaver is probably the best software for students because you don't need to know HTML, or CSS to use it. However, once you learn it, it fits like a glove. The interface is comfortable, the options, the ability to edit webpages live, and the error tracking ability are great. When you move on to JavaScript it's still a great interactive software. Of course, there are far better JavaScript editors. There certainly are areas to improve, and there's free software out there along with some browser-based ones. I'm not married to Dreamweaver, but it's easy to become content with it.
