OmniSwitch 6900

Overall Satisfaction with Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch

We have some Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch 6900 series switches with 10 GbE SFP+ ports in a distribution topology to concentrate some Dell and Alcatel access switches that we have in some units of the company. The model we use is the OS6900-X20 which has 20 10GbE SFP+ ports. This switch connects to Core Central which is located in the matrix. It is where the multimode and single-mode fibers are concentrated and the trunks of the VLANs are configured to create security and organization of the network.
  • Many 10GbE SFP+ fiber port options.
  • Can be used in Distribution and Core topologies.
  • Options with 20, 32 and 48 10GbE SFP+ ports.
  • Redundant fans, fonts, and CPU.
  • 24/7 support and warranty come at a higher price. The service is not available in all cities.
  • Excellent performance with switching capacity over 600 Gbps.
  • Can be easily stacked and managed by software or single IP address.
  • Can be easily stacked and managed by software or single IP address.
  • May have expanded ports.
  • 10GbE SFP+ and 40GbE QSF+ ports.
  • More stability, management, and performance of LAN network.
  • 10 SFP+ ports connectivity from edge switches.
  • Reduced price and faster return on investment.

The Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch 6900 series switch is highly robust, technological, and perfectly suited to our purpose. It is rich in advanced routing features including BGP, OSPF, static, 10Gb and SFP+ ports, 40GbE QSF+, and stability with redundancy across hardware. It is ideal and we recommend it for distribution and network core scenarios. The price is much lower than the big switch leaders.
