Overall Satisfaction with AlphaSense

I use AlphaSense to keep track of companies within my investment universe covering all healthcare verticles. The keyword search features are great for going through transcripts quickly and accessing all the company filings/presentations/press releases in an efficient manner. A newer feature for expert call transcripts is the most interseting feature, a great proxy to using services like GLG/Guidepoint for a fraction of the cost and much for volume

Pros

  • Expert call accumulation
  • Transcript sentiment scoring
  • Exportation of tables within company filings

Cons

  • More buildout of the income statement/balence sheet metric for a company, Sentieo does a better job presenting that
  • Presenting all companies within a given GICS subset
  • Tracking of past/future company events
  • Has been great for keeping up to date on end user perspective by aggregating expert calls/transcripts
  • Helps gives confidence on tracking management sentiment on given topics by seeing statements made over time and comparing them
  • Improves speed of access for transcripts, they get put up on alphasense very quickly after a given event
- Think Sentieo and Bloomberg are much easier and better for accessing financial data, both historical statements and future analyst projections

- The user interface for including/excluding different sources of information at the top of the page is very intuitve

- OK usability for making watch lists

- Easy to log into
- Sources transcripts very fast getting them uploaded, allows for 'multi-tasking' of the night of various company earnings to go through transcripts in quasi-real-time to stay up to speed on annoucements

- Sources in sell side notes and gives a good aggregation of company annoucements and sell side interpretation for historical events

- KOL transcript sourcing allows us to stay aware of end user sentiment for the companies in our space
- Alphasense has better NLP algorithms for finding terms and their close proxies, a super 'control-F' feature

- Alphasense is able to aggregate all sources of data (sell side, company, competitors) into one easier search feature

- Alphasense is very regularly maintained/updated with new features and tools for research

Yes

Would you buy AlphaSense again?

Yes

- Well suited for getting a steady stream of expert call transcripts

- Great for sorting through company documents searching for keywords or phrases and close fits to those phrases

- Less well suited for quickly going through a company's income statement/balance sheet/cash flows

- Less well suited for comparing companies side by side
