Overall Satisfaction with AlphaSense
Business problems and scope:
We use AlphaSense to:
- Market intelligence: what are our competitors doing?
- Investor relations: how are we performing relative to peer companies and segments?
We use AlphaSense to:
- Track our competitors
- Easily comb through publicly traded companies' earnings calls and investor presentations for topics, trends, and sentiment
- Benchmark our company's performance to our peers
- Find small bits of information about competitors, customers, and prospects, including their appearance in the news and in analyst briefs
- Detect trends and big-picture market problems by industry
- Serving as a one-stop-shop for financial filings, earnings calls, investor presentations, etc.
- Auto-summarization of earnings calls
- Fuzzy matching on search terms (e.g., searching on "R&D" captures all sorts of items related to product development and innovation)
- Apples-to-apples comparisons between publicly traded companies' metrics
- Email alert digests (e.g., weekly round-up of M&A activity in our segment)
- Private company data
- Collaboration with colleagues who don't have an AlphaSense seat
- Auto-identifying (and then editing) the peer set of companies that any given company is benchmarked against
- Deeper competitive insights: understanding what competitors are (and aren't) talking about in their earnings calls
- Influencing messaging our investor relations uses
- Efficiency gains: turning over tedious research to the computer so we (the humans!) can spend more time thinking analytically
AlphaSense's news alerts -- for me, competitor M&A activity -- ensure that I'm aware of key activities so I can quickly get started with my own analysis. I can then use the platform to gather the views of analysts for inclusion into my assessment.
The platform's auto-summarization and positive/negative sentiment highlighting makes for much more effective, efficient consumption of earnings call transcripts. This means that we -- and more importantly, the colleagues that we're serving -- are more likely to digest such materials on a timely basis, since doing so becomes much less of a burden.
We expect to soon start using the platform to uncover big market problems that our customers and prospects -- entire industries, really -- are grappling with. That work should help guide the development of our long-term product visions.
