Overall Satisfaction with Alteryx
As a data consulting firm, Alteryx is at the heart of the business. It's one of the softwares that we specialise in. The product addresses a multitude of business problems. The flexibility, creativity, and low barrier to entry really help the technical staff have conversations with non-technical staff without "losing" them in the details. The workflows you can produce are visual, logical to follow, and allow you to step through the entire process. The visual workflows are an amazing feature in terms of debugging, helpfulness when sharing the workflow, and the readability of your work. The best part of Alteryx for me is the automation. Like many ETL tools: connecting to any data source, combining disparate files however you like, transforming the data, and then having the ability to output the information in a variety of data formats is one thing. But then being able to automate this is a complete step up. i.e., automatically selecting the most recent files in folder dumps (based on metadata), bringing those into the workflow, and running those new files on the original workflow you built (without having the repoint data sources). Game changer. And the list goes on in terms of its uses.
Pros
- Low barrier to entry
- Connecting to ANY data source
- Fantastic Learning platform and community
- Free, recognised certifications
- automation
Cons
- To expand and shrink windows inside of Designer can be quite painful if you're not steady with your mouse!
- Cost if you wanted it for personal use
- Not applicable for me as a Junior Consultant
