Overall Satisfaction with Amazon Personalize

We were looking for a platform to generate user segmentation based on their platform usage. Our platform provides billing and invoicing applications to various kinds of businesses. As a by-product, we generate transactional data that we wanted to use to segment usage data in groups around their hours of operation, transaction amounts, and product/service types.
  • Ingest virtually unlimited quantities of transactional data.
  • Provide world-class training capabilities.
  • Provide a free-tier to start your project.
  • Getting started may be hard for someone without prior machine learning experience.
  • IDE tools may help business users utilize these tools without the help of a programmer.
  • Support for real-time recommendations.
  • Ease of integration with other tools using APIs.
  • Support for analyzing unstructured information (ie. texts).
  • We managed to analyze huge amounts of data from transactional records.
  • We produced 5 different user/profile segments for our marketing team.
  • We learned how to power marketing predictions using machine learning.

Amazon Personalize is well suited for business cases where you need to produce quality predictions and/or machine learning models using high amounts of data. It's convenient if you have a technical team with programming capabilities (ie. Python). Amazon Personalize may not be a good fit if you don't have technical capabilities in your team, as these are needed to really use it a full capacity.
