Overall Satisfaction with Anaplan
Beginning with financial planning and analysis 3 years ago, we retired a legacy program coupled with spreadsheets. Our main audience remains finance though we have a few models that help us generate business activity that feeds our finance model.
- Multiple users working on similar tasks for different parts of the company. No shared spreadsheets or unexpected deleted cells.
- Creates a discussion platform for project managers who need to bid for internal resources. Our IT department can only do so much and managers can get a feel for the total demand and timing of demand thru our capacity model.
- Business wide expense drivers can be updated centrally. FICA limit change. Medical benefits change. Cost per inquiry change. It takes some forethought, but doesn't everything?
- Restore history. This feature sounds pretty good for normal operations but we have found interesting and novel ways to meet customer requests that are made easy with this feature.
- User interface could use some improvement, particularly navigation that sometimes requires both the mouse and the keyboard to get to the place you need to be.
- Undo button. the current process can restate a model back to any (and I mean any) point in time. this is great except when you just want to go back one or two changes. then it is kind of cumbersome.
- configurable data defaults. when I add an employee to my compensation module, there are 2 or 3 defaults I would like to have set so that I only have to pay attention to the exceptions.
- oracle cloud and Adaptive Planning
Our sense was that Anaplan provided technology that was well beyond our requirements but still gave us independence from our IT department.
