Our ApptioOne/TBM Journey
Overall Satisfaction with ApptioOne
We use ApptioOne for our IT budget and forecast process and Product TCO and Showback program. The two use cases of why we went into ApptioOne included eliminating the need to utilize and rely on spreadsheets to create the budget and forecast and to provide visibility into why the IT budget is so large.
Pros
- Standardizing the budget - ensuring consistency of the data
- Providing on-demand visibility into line level detail of IT spend for our IT leaders
- Allowing IT organizations to quickly pivot into different budget planning scenarios
- The ability to customize reports
Cons
- The labor tax rate in the labor rates allocation section in ITP - when you set a rate it's static throughout the year, and from my understanding, there isn't functionality to allow you to have multiple tax rates.
- Role-level security for different plans within ITP. Currently, we don't allow read/write access for our IT leaders, but it would be great if we could allow them to have read/write access for a specific plan.
- Allowing for unlimited amount of custom dimensions in ITP.
We ingest financial, labor, and CMDB data via a connector.
- Provided never before seen line level detail into the budget
- Was able to reduce the budget by 10% during COVID
- Enabling the IT organization to build a relationship with the BU and provide visibility into technology spend
- Cloudability
We only recently stood up our Cloudability instance, and the goal is to integrate the tagging data from Cloudability into CT to support our Product TCO/Showback capabilities.
