Overall Satisfaction with ApptioOne

We use it at the moment as a forecasting, variance and reporting tool. It is the hope that within the next 2 years we will implement Bill of IT module so we can bill out to our business units based on the information that we currently have flowing in through Apptio.

We use them all daily. We start with forecasting in IT Planning. The forecast is the base of all that we do. We load through the budget and our actuals through that tool, along with key metadata that is related to the information. We then transfer the data into Cost Transparency for more access to reporting, as well as layering the data along with other information from outside sources. Moving this information and cost up the model has been a struggle, but we are at the point in the process where we are close to using Apptio as a cost recovery tool.

The Premier support group and upper level management is a joy to work with. In my experience the Apptio Support group is not only very difficult to work with, but many of time they are not helpful and sometimes rude. They do not see through to the end of the resolution, they will only respond to anything entered in the original support ticket. Sometimes it is hard to know exactly what the problem is until they take a look. So having this happen is an issue for us. They will also close out tickets if they are unable to figure something out. If they aren't able to help then they close out the ticket rather than pushing it to engineering like they used to do in the past.
  • Cloudability
We are not using any of these products. But we are looking at maybe using Cloudability in the future. We have met with Apptio a couple of times, along with our Emerging Tech group who has the most skin in the game with regards to the cloud. They are manually managing their AWS tools at the moment so being able to use Apptio for that would be a great help and time saver for them.

For all of our cost reporting and forecasting Apptio is the perfect tool. We are able to quickly and accurately able to respond to our stakeholders needs. We have been able to build trust within our organization for the numbers within the tool and that is continuing to improve.

As we mature as an IT organization, we would like to move the information into more of a self service reporting tool like Apptio BI is supposed to be. But, as it currently stands there are too many guardrails and hinderances within the software that make it almost useless for most use cases that we present to it.
