Overall Satisfaction with ArcGIS

Currently, ArcGIS is used with several product options. First are maps for a specific theme; there are maps for hydraulics systems and there are heat maps for population behavior. My company, has two main users; the other three people are field professionals, and they are always are looking for the latest information of some focused theme, like a traffic mobility or flood risk near Caracas.
  • Cartographic output
  • Data process
  • Attribute fields
  • Load field data information
  • Create raster procesed information from basic data
  • Every project occupied lots of computer memory
  • Makes the computer run slow
  • It's a very expensive software
  • As a positive, allows us to prepare a lot of projects
  • As a negative, pricing is very high
  • Our customers like the consultant products, but doesn't like the final price
I selected ArcGIS because is a tool that we use in our firm to perform base cartography and we depend on the exchangeable files from shape to dxf and kml. This software have as an advantage it's flexibility and stability, and it stacks up well because it has evolved from the classic software and added new products that are compatible with engineering solutions.
ArcGIS worked the best when our company did a job on roadmaps for Zamora's Mayor Office, with a pump stations risk map and a first response and hospital map, at the end we finished with an all-in one-map. It was very hard to see the problems that the Mayor's Office has to deal with. ArcGIS has a high price for a small business like ours.

Evaluating ArcGIS and Competitors

  • Vendor Reputation
Product Usability is the most important factor, because it gives me confidence to use a GIS program that is friendly, useful and easy to use for my jobs.
