Overall Satisfaction with Okta

We used Auth0 for our Collaborative VR platform where applications without user login and web portals with user login access a central server. This provides multiuser capability to our VR solutions. We are currently using it in a few applications with a few users but this will rapidly expand.

Pros

  • Maturity of the platform.
  • Documentation.
  • Available SDK's and libraries.
  • Sample code.
  • API Explorer.

Cons

  • A standard mechanism to back up all tenant data would be great.
  • Huge development time savings, though it is difficult to tell how much.
  • We would expect further benefits but are not using it extensively enough yet.
Auth0 came highly recommended by a friend and former colleague. I trust his judgement tremendously. Thus we started looking at and experimenting with Auth0 first. As this was immediately successful (we had the first bit up-and-running in a single day) we did not really look further. We only took a brief look at AWS as we use it for our cloud service but decided it was too complex for our taste.
I think Auth0 is well suited to most scenarios where authorisation and authentication is required. It seems to scale well, both in volume as well as in functionality. Maybe for the most simple use cases it is a bit too much, but generally speaking it should be great to use.

Configuring Okta

It is configurable in so many ways. From the technical configuration, via mail servers to use to the UX. This has really turned out to be one of the highlights of using Auth0. Everything we wanted from the solution was possible.
