Overall Satisfaction with Dell EMC Avamar

Avamar is our primary backup appliance for our location. We use it to protect our critical data against loss. We backup Windows and Linux servers, both physical and virtual.
  • Great deduplication.
  • Fast backups.
  • Super reliable.
  • It is expensive.
  • Initial setup of clients is a little clunky.
  • The system scaled well with our company's demands for several years.
  • I have been able to successfully save us from a catastrophic loss by having backups we could restore from Avamar.
  • As we bought new and different technologies, I was able to incorporate them into our existing backup plan.
Each one of these products did one thing well. Avamar was able to backup all of the different OS types and different types of data. Also, the reliability and support of Avamar are so much better.
I found that Avamar was very easy to use when backing up physical servers. The version I had was not as good for backing up virtual servers, but it was an older version. The console you use made it very easy to see if any backups failed.
