Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Avanan as an additional layer of security for our business email. It blocks suspicious emails that Microsoft may have allowed through. Prior to Avanan, we had quite a bit of impersonation emails coming through to users' email boxes, and this has been reduced by 99%—occasionally, an email will still get through, but it is very rare.

Usability

Once you deploy the policies, it is very easy to manage. I review the logs once a week to ensure any emails put in quarantine were not a fake positive and legitimate email. Other than that it just works.

Alternatives Considered

I tried other products, but they did not work in line with Microsoft Exchange, so emails were delivered first, causing the opportunity for a user to still click on a bad link if the email was not pulled from their inbox quickly enough. This product does not do that, it scans first and then routes to the users inbox once determined it is a clean email.
