Overall Satisfaction with AvePoint Confidence Platform

I use AvePoint Cloud Backup to protect Exchange Online, SharePoint Online and Microsoft Teams data. I needed a solution which can do multiple backups a day automatically. The solution chosen had to be cost effective as well.

Pros

  • Multiple backups a day
  • Able to bring own storage
  • Set and forget

Cons

  • Support can be difficult to deal with
  • Restoring data is not always consistent with original content
  • User interface is not intuitive
  • Set and forget on a schedule
  • Choosing what to backup
  • Having alerts sent out for failed jobs
  • Setup can be ok if scans complete correctly and it saves time
  • Can be 100% secure if bring own storage and keys
  • Usually can back up 4 times a day
It is better than Veeam since it can backup more different types of data such as Project Online and Public Folders. Setup is generally easier if support is there to help.

If backing up simple data use case scenarios such as basic web content, the product is ok. If the SharePoint site has complexities such as apps, customizations, metadata and content types, it will struggle to restore content correctly which is very painful to fix.
