Overall Satisfaction with Barracuda Backup
We purchased Barracuda Backup to address user data and the automation of their backups. Home directories proved to be a pain point for some staff and the need to backup changed files throughout the day steered us to the Barracuda system. Without the use of home directories or automated backups, the help desk staff had to spend many hours manually backing up user data. Additionally, we have suffered data loss due to disgruntled staff and by having Barracuda Backup running automatically we were able to pick point in time data restoration.
- Automated backups.
- Easily navigate files to be restored.
- Having the ability to redirect the restored data to another location.
- Having the data both on site and replicated to Barracuda cloud allows for both faster data restoration as I am not dependent on a shared internet connection to pull data from the cloud, but having the cloud to replicate also adds an additional layer to disaster recovery.
- Scheduling, particularly in a large organization could become a challenge.
- Reporting could use a bit of work as well.
- Having the unit in place has freed the support staff from having to manually backup user data.
- Staff are continually impressed by the ability to quickly restore lost data, point in time restoration has proven valuable as well.
- Not having to manually load data tapes in a B2T environment has saved a lot of time.
Not wanting to place all our data in on basket, we also utilize a B2T library, having both systems in place allows me more agility should one of the two systems go offline.
