Overall Satisfaction with Carbonite Server Backup

Our whole business is backed up with Carbonite including the Server Backup service for our local database.

Pros

  • Customer Service
  • Communication
  • Cost

Cons

  • The way they do the server backups.
  • The software the end user uses to set up server backup.
  • Generic emails that don't always explain the problem correctly.
  • We haven't actually had to recover anything so we have not used the service as intended. So currently it is purely a cost with no return yet.
They don't really compare as we use them in different ways.
It's really great for any business but you have to always buy more space than you need due to them not allowing extra space temporarily for the active backup and before the secondary one is removed. This causes problems constantly for us.

    Hi, Thank you for your review, we appreciate the feedback. I want to let you know that with version 5.3 of Carbonite Server Backup users are permitted to have the temporary storage between backups and ones pending deletion due to retention. Version 5.3 was released sometime in April of 2016 so you should update to the latest version of the software if you are still experiencing the issue. Thanks, Johnathan Ferrick Product Manager
