Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Software
Cisco ASA is my favourite firewall. If you are a beginner and you are thinking for learning the security then you should start with ASA...one of my clients has been using this for the last 5 years, model is 5525 and I've managed this for the last 2 years and haven't faced any issue or any misbehave. Easy commands configuration and simple commands for troubleshooting.
- NAT - you can configure in many ways according to your requirement.
- VPN - both site to site and remote VPN are very secure and easy to configure.
- Routing - easy commands for configure routing. You will get the all routing features which are available in router.
- Time to time patches and lots of documentations.
- Very helpful technical support, my personal experience is very good with them.
- Sometimes face issue in PBR.
- Sometimes face issue in GUI. Very slow.
- Easy to deploy and configure.
- Much lower cost and good features.
- GUI is not good. Should work on this.
I am a freelancer consultant so I use lots of firewalls. I recommended Cisco ASA to my client and asked him to replace pfSense because pfSense is not easy firewall. Options are very different and commands are very tricky. Lots of options are not available. But ASA is better than this. You can easily deploy, configure, and manage this.
