Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst 8000 Edge Platforms
As part of the migration from ISRk and small, fixed ASR!K platforms we are evaluating respective successors from the 8K family.
- QFP 3.0 is expected to be the enhanced version of ASR 1K
- Since it's SD-WAN ready it would be handy in hybrid environments where there are legacy MPLS and SDWAN based solutions delivering ti business
- Cloud ready
- Simultaneous operation of Autonomous & Controller modes (not as separate modes)
- Improved capacity (and port density) to match ASR 1K-HX platforms
- SD WAN
- MPLS
- Segment Routing
- Enhancement to the existing A1K and ISR 4K
- Cisco 9000 Series Aggregation Services Routers (ASR 9000), Cisco 5000 Series Network Convergence System (NCS 5000), Cisco 1000 Series Aggregation Services Routers (ASR 1000) and Cisco 4000 Series Integrated Services Routers (ISR 4000)
8K is the prospective successor of ASR1k (fixed) and ISR 4K
