Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst 8000 Edge Platforms

The typical use of this devices is as edge router for enterprise which are autonoumous system (AS). Typically they are used to implement BGP protol and sometimes store the FIRT
  • Memory capabilities to ensure scalability in BGP FIRT scenario
  • 5G support
  • Application visibility
  • The price is really higher than other vendors' devices
  • The number of interfaces is not as higher as other vendors' devices
  • The subscription model for routing capabilities forces to a continuous expense
  • High performance and high availability
  • Long life ensured by memory capabilities
  • SD-WAN option
  • Improving the performance and the availability, it has increased the SLA we can ensure to the customers and so the sales has increased
  • The initial expense is really high so the breakeven point is not so near
  • The opex for licensing is high too
Cisco has a lower price for value against the other two vendors, because they delivers more interfaces for less money and don't need subscriptions for licensing the routing features
