Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst Center

We use it to monitor our wireless network and to deploy our fleet of 9,800 wireless controllers and 9,000 wireless access points. Primarily we use it for automation. So spinning up the deployment of our wireless access points.

Pros

  • the IEP deployments, the plug and play is really good.

Cons

  • They definitely need to improve the backup capability and they need to work on more products. They need to make Catalyst Center do more of the things that Cisco Prime could do.
  • It's had a good impact because we don't need to send highly skilled resources to the site and we can probably deploy equipment maybe 70% quicker than what we could manually.

Do you think Cisco Catalyst Center delivers good value for the price?

Did Cisco Catalyst Center live up to sales and marketing promises?

Did implementation of Cisco Catalyst Center go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Cisco Catalyst Center again?

Yes

Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), ThousandEyes, Cisco Spaces
So it's well suited for projects where we're doing lots of asset replacement. So when we need to roll out large numbers of access points and we've only got low-skilled resources on site, we can pre-build all the configuration and DAX plug-and-play sets everything up for us. So it's really good for that. It's probably less suited for some of our Brownfield, like taking existing Brownfield networks and bringing them into DAX. It's more suited for new Greenfield, I think.
