Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN

We are using Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN solution to provide connectivity between our main office and the branch office. With this solution in place, we will decommission our MPLS service in the very near future. All our business applications are running via SDWAN without problems.

Pros

  • Allow multiple VRFs
  • Underlay can be built on internet
  • Very stable

Cons

  • Some features are missing in shared mode
  • Feature templates name cannot be changed once they are linked to device template
  • SD-WAN policies are too complicated
  • Save investment on expensive MPLS subscription
  • Integrate with Azure cloud which make the business application a lot easier
Easy to use, easy to troubleshooting. We can reuse any feature templates and device templates we created before.

If the customer is after intelligent traffic steering, Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN will be the right solution, if the customer lacks a dedicated IT team or has minimal networking expertise, we would recommend Meraki solution which is also a cloud-native solution and makes it easier to manage branch networks without deep technical knowledge.
