Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst Switches
We are Cisco partners and provide services to customers. Catalyst switches are preferred in large organisations over other devices like Meraki and HP. Mostly, customer go for the 9200 series whenever they require L2 switches and 9500 & 9600 switches for their core infra. Catalyst switches are the lifeline of many major companies.
Pros
- Catalyst switches are having high bandwidth.
- Advance features of customisation and programmability.
- Lots of access options like telnet, ssh, GUI.
- They can now even be converted to cloud based switch like meraki.
Cons
- Automation should be available for automatic loop detection and prevention without any command so that if someone makes up by default, it should not affect his whole network.
- Ports speed should be auto negotiated with the peer one.
- The switch alert system should be there directly inside for any major issues instead of getting that through DNAc or other monitoring tools.
- Common and most user friendly configuration setup.
- One of the most rugged devices.
- Last long even after support is ended.
- Cisco Headset 700 Series
- Cisco DNA Spaces
- Cisco DNA Center
- Cisco Meraki MX
- Cisco Meraki MR
- Cisco Meraki MV
- Cisco Catalyst Switches
While using Meraki to run infra with catalyst and dnac, it was very easy to set up everything as everything gelled with the running infra without much effort. Even IoT devices and cameras used with Meraki access points and catalyst switches and routers worked nicely. Meraki infrastructure, combined with a catalyst, works very well in any small to large infrastructure.
Cisco's hybrid solution is something where there are not many challenges during implementation, and if you do face any, then support from Cisco is awesome and available at any time within a few minutes based on the impact. Collaboration integration with the system works well with catalyst and Cloud-based Meraki solutions.
It's utter easiness with which these solutions work with each other, and even integration with third parties is smooth.
Cisco switches are preferred as they provide a prem-based solution to most of the required infra compared to others.

As day by day cisco is improving its product then definitely I would love to replace switches used right with smart switches capable of running in both catalyst and Meraki persona.
