Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst Switches

We use the product, the Cisco Catalyst Switches for access control. We mainly use right now the Cisco Catalyst 1300 from the small business line because they are not so expensive, like the Cisco Catalyst 9300 and for our use case, they are the best suited because they are fast deployed and don't need much configurations and we can easily stack them without have to configure really much. So they are fast deployed events and we can easily build new in the stack. So we have unlimited ports for direct support on Cisco devices.

Pros

  • Particularly well, I would say layer to deployment this really well and tunneling is great, so it's easy to deploy. It's the thing I would say about this product, it's great, it's easy to deploy and you don't need much time to go into the details of the product to deploy it. You don't have to read manuals really much because it's really easy to configure. So if you used our catalysts before.

Cons

  • Room for improvement, I would say the room for improvement would be the firmware because of the Cisco Catalyst 1300, yes, they're made for small businesses. We would like to have an option like the Cisco Catalyst 9300 that are not so expensive for our excess infrastructure because the catalyst network, three hundreds are for the sizes, a little bit too expensive for our routine access infrastructure and so we switched to the front house three hundreds and with them we only have the little problem that the firmware is a little bit different so that all the commands are really much different and we would like to have an option for the Cisco Catalyst 9300's that are less expensive.
  • That's a good question. I can't think of one right now.
I would say the traffic for the VPNs, the latencies and the communications between the home devices and our infrastructure because we have problems there that sometimes the latency is really high and the workers can really work well, but we are now done to fix it.
Because we don't use the hybrid solutions for Cisco. I can't really say something about that.
It's really flexible. From working perspective, you can really, you get more done and even if you are on the Cisco life, you can work from here and if some problem appears where you are needed, you can connect to our company and to end try to solve the issue from away from the company. That's really the best thing I would think of.
Like I said, the Cisco Catalyst 1300 we evaluated and Cisco Catalyst 9200 & 9300 we evaluate and we choose for the mainly excess part Cisco Catalyst 1300 because they are much cheaper than the Cisco Catalyst 9300.

Our access infrastructure. If you want to bring many devices into your infrastructure and you don't want to bring the devices direct on the core routers, something like that. Or to the routers, the catalyst switches are perfectly suited for that or for top of direct switches.
