Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst Switches

We use them in the access layer for connecting to the network.

Pros

  • It provides network connectivity to end user or end devices.

Cons

  • Maybe the upgrade process, software upgrade. Sometimes if you upgrade the stack it's going to be a bit tricky. You sometimes don't know how the product is going to behave or misbehave maybe. So that's a point where I felt were some issues in the past for sure. Right now I can't really say because it's a long time ago when I did the last upgrade.
  • I'd say a lot of positive impacts. The products are good and they are, I don't know how to say they are reliable.
Well, personally, I don't implement hybrid places like we have a co-op team which does the WebEx part or the co-op part I'd say and myself more like Catalyst and Access implementations.
It's working good.
Juniper Network. I am used to the Cisco syntax, so for me it's like a no brainer. I will implement Cisco if it's possible.

Do you think Cisco Catalyst Switches delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Cisco Catalyst Switches's feature set?

Yes

Did Cisco Catalyst Switches live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Cisco Catalyst Switches go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Cisco Catalyst Switches again?

Yes

It's less appropriate if you want to use it in a small space, like just a small office room, which has no fixed in-house cabling, so spaces where you don't have a server room or some racks where you can install the Cisco Catalyst Switches. I'm talking about the bigger ones. Of course there are smaller Catalyst Switches, but I am not very used to them.
