Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Nexus
Implemented a multi-pod ACI design in order to provide active/active DC services for our critical applications. The Nexus 9Ks have performed admirably and efficiently for use cases, especially on 14.x/15.x versions of code. Having the underlying complexity of the VXLAN/COOP/MP-BGP/IS-IS fabric abstracted away has allowed us to focus on shaping - and implementing - the business policy instead. We also implemented Nexus 9Ks for the inter-pod network in NXOS mode.
Pros
- ACI / VXLAN-based fabric overlay
- Affordable high-speed switching
Cons
- Stability of SNMP / monitoring
- Clarity of ACI's network abstraction
- Licensing
- Able to offer higher SLA for DC infrastructure
- Reduced DC services infrastructure cost by nearly 30% by bringing services back in-house
