Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Nexus 9000 Series Switches
Nexus 9000 Series Switches are primarily used to transport large flows of data quickly while minimizing errors. This is best used in our environment between data centers, cloud, and other applications that perform backups or transfer databases between applications. Nexus switches also have great built in redundant technologies to have minimal downtown.
Pros
- Ability to configure two switches as one logical unit
- High port throughput
- Minimal Hardware Failure
Cons
- Nexus 9000 could have smaller model for a lower pricepoint
- Nexus 9000 Features could all be turned on
- IKE security keys could automatically refresh on their own
- Secure of workflow data
- Fast data transfers
- Reliable elephant flow transfers
Cisco Nexus 9000 are not isolated to individual devices but can integrate well with the existing datacenter to combine multiple hardware devices into one logical unit via a separate control plane that can improve redundancy and minimize downtime when one unit goes down for an upgrade the other unit stays up therefore having zero downtime for the logical unit.
Nexus 9000 Series Switches are able to track and secure application workflows through tagging traffic and integrating with Cisco Secure Workflow. We have high visibility of our traffic to see application errors or misconfiguration. We are able to set system alerts and packet captures on these switches to get to the root cause of application errors.
Nexus 9000 works together with Netskope to provide connectivity between data centers, the cloud, and remote branches. Both provide scalability, redundant architecture, and security to the network. In some sense both provide end to end security and the ability to store and troubleshoot packet captures to improve operations and security postures.
