Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Nexus 9000 Series Switches
We have the pairs of Cisco Nexus 9000 Series as collapsed core layer in our two datacenter sites. We used them as nonblocking spine with easy and cost effective connections with 100 Gbps vPC between sites it help us reduce many other intersite connection.
Pros
- Cost-effective 100 Gbps interfaces
- Support for VXLAN EVPN
- vPC for increased redundancy
Cons
- We missing dropped support for FEXs.
- We have little trouble with missing 10/25 Gbps ports on older models.
- It isn't supported has HSRP between SVI on different VPC domains.
- We can use this switches for really long time.
- The software upgrade process is really non-disruptive on dual-homed devices.
- In 15 years of using Nexuses we don't have any big problem with them.
Not well, we are small environment. But have opportunity scale the infrastructure in future is great. I hope that we some days move to the bigger topology.
We really like the vPC. We are mandatory connect every end devices over vPC. This makes upgrading really transparent for end users. We run also our storage traffic on Cisco Nexus 9000 Series and it is working reliable and non distruptive.
