Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Nexus Dashboard
We are widely using the Cisco Nexus Dashboard in our Day 2 operations. It gives us proactive notification for a specific Anomaly in each of our ACI sites. This tool provides a more efficient way to detect possible faults before they can actually happen and provides us with a recommendation on how to properly address the detected anomaly. Overall, this tool really helps us a lot in maintaining the reliability and operation uptime of our ACI Fabric.
- It provides monitoring for our overall ACI Fabric which includes the Controller, Spine, and Leaf Switches.
- It gives you a single pane of visibility of all of your ACI fabric using Nexus Dashboard, no need to login to each of the multiple ACI fabric controllers.
- Provides an assurance analysis to to your ACI fabric before implementing any change in configuration, they have the Pre-change analysis prior to the firmware upgrade.
- Gives you the overall health of your Fabric and provides anomaly severity.
- With the latest version release of Cisco Nexus Dashboard to version 3.0.1 I can say that most of the features have already improved but one of the wishlists that I want for ND is the possibility of extracting lists of Anomaly.
- Include older versions of Firmware in the list of choices when doing the firmware upgrade analysis, currently only the recommended is in the list of choices.
- If possible, include all the prechecks in the Firmware pre-upgrade analysis same in the script provided by Cisco.
- We have lessened the number of anomalies that we have from the previous almost 400, now we only have around 50 or fewer critical anomalies across our ACI Sites.
- We are able to manage the prior situations before they can actually happen instead of responding to them after they occur.
- It gives us more confidence and can proudly say that our ACI fabric is within standard and the overall fabric is in a healthy state.
- SolarWinds NetFlow Traffic Analyzer (NTA)
I have tried using SolarWinds specifically the previous Network configuration manager the log analyzer. When I compare them with Cisco Nexus Dashboard snapshots, delta analysis, and connectivity analysis, we can say that Cisco Nexus Dashboard raises the bar way higher. It gives ease to the user managing the dashboard, the interface is user-friendly, and can easily capture what the dashboard is trying to show you.
Before we implement any major change in our Fabric, we use the pre-change analysis to do the job of analyzing what would be the impact of the change and the same goes for the Firmware pre-change analysis. We run the analysis weeks before the intended change and we will have an overview of what will be the impact of the firmware upgrade, which also includes the specific endpoints connected to the Leaf switch.
We don't need to log in or manage each or every Controller to manage our ACI fabric. We can harmoniously manage and access each of our ACI fabrics just by logging in to the Cisco Nexus Dashboard itself. We can have the overall overview of our entire ACI Fabric using the Cisco Nexus Dashboard.
