Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Nexus Series Switches

We are using nexus switches at our 6 different data centers at Turkey. After swapping our Catalyst 6500 and 4500 with 7000 Series NXOS devices we faced lots of problems and service interruption. The 6500 series was really good but I can't say same for Nexus 7000 Series devices. On the other hand the 9300 Series are very stable and we are very satisfied with this product. No service interruption, no bugs, and easy to use.
  • Stable
  • Easy to use
  • Low price
  • L3 features are not powerful enough
  • Stable
  • Low power usage
  • Cheap
We are using both Arista 7280 and Cisco Nexus 9300 devices. Arista switches have deep buffer features and helps us for handling the big data packets. But these switches are a little bit more expensive than nexus 9300 switches. And also Arista 7050x Series can be competitive with the Nexus 9300 switches.

No

Did implementation of Cisco Nexus Series Switches go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Cisco Nexus Series Switches again?

Yes

Cisco Nexus is best for when you need cheap and stable data network. It supports lots of protocols and easy to implement them. Also you can use it as top of rack switches, which allow you to reduce cabling costs. 9300 routing features are not very powerful. You need to evaluate another series as a router.
