Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Nexus Series Switches

Cisco nexus series switches are primarily used in the data center to process large amounts of data and to allow multiple switches to be joined as one logical unit through vpcs for redundancies. Nexus series switches are robust and have a data processing units that can handle large amounts of traffic.

Pros

  • Cisco Nexus Series Switches are able to move large amounts of data between applications seamlessly
  • Cisco Nexus Series Switches are able to combine switches together to be able to process data between the both of them
  • Cisco Nexus Series Switches are robust and works well to provide redundancy in a data center

Cons

  • Cisco Nexus Series Switches could have more hardware options to suit a wider diversity of datacenters
  • Can't wait for Cisco Nexus Series Switches to have coolant system with tubes with fluids
  • Cisco Nexus Series Switches can sometimes take a while to reboot and the upgrade process can be sped up
  • Nexus switches provide robustness and redundancies in the datacenter
  • Nexus switches port channels sometime doesn't propagate the vlan tag to the port channel memebers
  • Nexus Switches can take a while to upgrade
If it works don't fix it. Nexus switches are great in the datacenter to process and move data in and out of the data center. Nexus switches use VPCs to have redundant architectures built into the data center. The packet capture capabilities are also useful for troubleshooting network outages and tracking dropped packets.
While they are different technologies, Nexus Series Switches can move data between servers and clients very effectively similar to SD-WAN. Nexus devices can also be isolate and prioritize different applications for network throughput. Very useful for identifying which application could have misconfiguration in their servers. The troubleshooting capabilities allow it easier to track network issues.

Would you buy Cisco Nexus Series Switches again?

Yes

We love our Cisco Nexus switches in our datacenters to provide redundancy and robustness for our branches to access applications with minimum down time. They rarely fail, provide logs for troubleshooting network issues, and can move data smoothly in and out of the datacenter. Nexus devices use of vpcs allow them to process data between switches.
