Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Cisco Secure Connect to allow a small group of users remote access to our servers and network. As a small retail business we do not have many remote workers, but for those that are able to it has been a game changer in productivity and ability to access resources from places other than at an office.

Easy to deploy
Integrates with Meraki MX seamlessly
Simple for small business and does not require much configuration
Excellent out of the box solution

Cons

I would like for more deployment options in the management portal
Ability to be able to set up more rules for specific devices and users

Return on Investment

Positive impact on the scalability of our network and easy of connecting
No additional costs were needed on top of the MX appliance to be able to use Cisco Secure Connect
Easy to manage and integrate

Usability

I have never had any issues with Cisco Secure Connect. I deployed it and it has just worked ever since. I really have not had to do anything other than make a profile and set up a second client in a separate firewall.

Alternatives Considered

Fortinet FortiGate

I looked at using FortiGate firewalls but Meraki MX and Cisco Secure Connect were much easier and integrated better for a small business with one IT person. Since it's an out of the box solution that is what made me pick Cisco Secure Connect over any others.

It has been well suited for our retail business so that I, as the IT manager, can work remotely to manage our systems and have complete access from anywhere. We have several traveling sales reps that can quickly and easily connect to our network to access resources that are needed in the field.
