Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Spaces

We have deployed Cisco Spaces on top of our existing Cisco Catalyst wireless infrastructure, Meraki sensors, and Webex collaboration infrastructure. We use it to deliver smart workspaces use case - display room level occupancy, environmental metrics, floor level occupancy, all combined on a digital signage. It hels use increase employee in-office experience on one hand, and improve operations efficiency on the other hand.

Pros

  • Integration with Webex for workplace analytics
  • Interactive map visualization
  • RTLS - great real-time locastion services with existing wireless infrastructure

Cons

  • Roadmap clarity and feature availability
  • Documentation and support quality
  • Licensing model complexity
  • Improved employee experience in the office (finding available meeting rooms)
  • Operational efficiency (real-time occupancy helped facilities team optimize office space)
  • Data-driven decisions (better planning of future workplace initiatives)
Behavoral Metrics (now called Visitor Trends) is used to track employee visit trends and patterns, which helps us how employees come in to the office so we can plan resources better.
Space Utilization dahsboard gives us clear insights into room occupancy, ghoast booking of the rooms, helping us optimize space usage nad meeting room layouts.
Integration with Meraki Dashboard brings Meraki MT sensor's environmental data (like temperature, humidity, and air quality) directly into the Cisco Spaces Dashboard, helping us monitor and optimize workplace conditions and also visualize workplace parameters to the employees on an interactive map (digital signage).

The Catalyst Wireless integration provides two key benefits: floor-level occupancy visualization and insights into employee behavior patterns. Integration with Catalyst Center allows visualization of client locations, which improves wireless troubleshooting and helps IT teams quickly identify and resolve connectivity issues.
Using location-based services in Cisco Spaces, we can see how employees move through the office, which spaces are most used, and peak occupancy times. These insights help us optimize space allocation, adjust seating or meeting arrangements, and improve the overall in-office experience. We can also communicate workplace conditions more effectively, for example displaying occupancy and environmental data on digital signage, so employees make better-informed decisions about where and when to work. This has led to more efficient use of space and happier, more productive employees.
We have not used Cisco Spaces for asset management just yet.
  • Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers
  • Cisco Meraki Dashboard
  • Cisco Catalyst Center
Cisco Spaces nicely sits on top of the existing infrastructure, combining occupancy, behavioral metrics, environmental data, and digital signage in a single solution. It provides a unified view of both people and space, rather than just network or device information. We've selected Cisco Spaces as it helps us drive additional use-cases with our existing infrastructure - it helps us improve employee experience and operational efficiency while leveraging our existing Cisco environment.

Cisco Spaces is well suited for environments that have existing wireless infrastructure, Meraki infrastructure, and / or collaboration infrastructure to provide added value from the existing network without the need to invest in other hardware. Use cases such as occupancy analytics and digital signage are quickly achievable and provide improved employee in-office experience on one hand and optimized space utilization and analytics for facilities teams on the other hand.

Using Cisco Spaces

2 - Currently only engineera (IT) use Cisco Spaces, however we have a digital signage deployed and this one is used by all our employees - from engineering team to administration.
2 - Skills required are basic network knowledge. Depends on what you integrate with Spaces, in our case it is wireless knowledge, knowledge about Meraki Dashboard, Webex Control Hub.

However, the Cisco Spaces Dashboard it pretty intuitive to use and easy to navigate.
  • Digital signage
  • RTLS
  • Room analytics
  • Planning room layouts
  • Planning "colaborative" events based on the input what are most visited days in the office
  • Indoor Navigation
  • Asset tracking
It is still not completely mature product, specially the support part could be improved.
