Overall Satisfaction with Cisco UCS B-Series

Cisco UCS B Series is supporting on-premises resources such as hosting VMs for file sharing and also testing environments. Has allowed us to condense space but still take advantage of high performing devices. Our downtime has reduced due to smooth VM transferring processes without corruption or compromising of data.

Pros

  • Blades are easily replaced
  • Reduces rack space

Cons

  • Like other systems you will need to keep up with updates in sequential order
  • Updates and maintenance may require some downtime
  • More reliable than Dell servers
  • Increase in performance with machine response time
We previously used Dell servers but decided to go with Cisco UCS to reduce maintenance time and improve security. Utilizing a solution built to serve a specific function removes many other variables. Cisco support is always reliable when opening up a case and resolutions to problems are usually taken care of within a couple of days.
Have not had any issues that could not be resolved. Cisco is a large company and it can depend on who becomes your support tech but overall the experience has been good.

Yes

Time constraints and low manpower can be a well-suited scenario to implement Cisco UCS B-Series. As long as updates are being applied the hardware does not require much support. It can complement a backup solution very adequately.
