Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers

We are using Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers in our Wi-Fi Infrastructure. They are managing all lightweight APs and we are collecting subscriber traffic to the Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers and then ISGs. There are some deep packet analysis is needed so I think application visibility center features may be developed further.

Pros

  • SSID management
  • WLAN to VLAN configuration
  • Managing lots of APs (up to 6K) at the same time

Cons

  • There are some interruptions when the number of APs over 5K
  • When registering some outdoor APs you should need to register mac address before
  • Very positive effect beacuse of robustness
  • Negative impact they can allow all sort of APs. I mean from Aironet to Catalyst series
I will give very high point marks for this feature. Because Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers are very easy to manage, you can create WLANs, make Radio management for all supported radios. And also you can create different wlans, define seperate WPA passwords for each of them, you can group APs and define different SSIDs. It is very important feature if you have thousands of APs to manage.
Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers are easy to manage, and easy operate. Also Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers devices can manage lots of Access Points at the same time. And they have lots of wireless features especially Cisco specific ones (application visibility control). Last but not least it very easy to reach thousands of know-how from cisco.com.
