Overall Satisfaction with CMiC Construction Platform
We currently use CMiC to manage contracts, budgets, submittals, RFIs, daily reports, and internal and external change orders between our subcontractors and owner. It is only being used by our construction department, not company wide. It does a decent job managing documents and costs, but it would be more beneficial if it could integrate with our accounting department's software. The organization of the platform is also not very user friendly. We don't have as much control as we would like.
- Low efficiency between departments.
- Better document control.
- Better project visibility.
I have used Kahua before, and I have heard good things about Procore. Our company had selected CMiC before I joined, and was the software used company-wide.
They are not the quickest to respond to a problem, and the solutions they provide aren't always the best. I had an issue with the software, which the software created as it was a glitch in the system, and the CMiC support was going to charge me to fix the issue that was created by the software itself. Instead of paying for this, which we shouldn't have to, I re-created the entire project I was working on.

Would you buy CMiC Construction Platform again?
I have gotten used to the platform and workflow, so I know the system and steps I need to take to do my job. At first, it took awhile, but getting used to the software I know the nuances. However, it is still inefficient to what I think this system is capable of, and my colleagues feel the same way.
We have the ability to track multiple projects in CMiC, and track a variety of budgets between $1-$250 million dollars, which works perfectly for the type of company we are. It fits our business needs, but there is money wasted trying to navigate through this software and trying to create reports that don't display our exact needs.
It is well suited for the project management role, updating vendors and keeping track of the budget. It is great with keeping a log of daily activities and contract documents (RFIs, Submittals). However, it is not that great when you when to track real costs against the budget and determine how much money was actually spent.
