Overall Satisfaction with Commvault

  • Used to backup all corporate and research data from on-prem and Cloud ICT systems across the organization.
  • Provides an enterprise level solution that supports our backup and archival strategy.

Pros

  • Management of backup sets
  • Replication of backup sets to cloud storage
  • Backup of Cloud data to on-prem storage repositories

Cons

  • Some development on BCP capabilities would be an advantage
  • Significant reduction in backup administration compared to previous solution
  • Greater DR capability (replication to Cloud) giving increased assurance
It offers significantly better functionality at a better cost.
Received support from a local provider (backed off by Commvault). Provider is responsive and knowledgable.

Yes - Veritas BackupExec - We had simply outgrown this solution. Backups could not complete in time, and we were restricted to only backing up on-prem data sets to on-prem online storage and/or tape.
  • Excellent for enterprise backups
  • Not so good to support business continuity strategies (eg snapshotting to the Cloud to provide full offsite resilience of ICT systems)
