Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Commvault Complete Backup & Recovery is currently being used by our company. We use the solution to back up our corporate data, email, and databases. Commvault Complete Backup & Recovery helps address our backup and recovery needs across our organization. We have Commvault Complete Backup & Recovery set to back up our data once an hour. All corporate data is backed up each hour. You can set the SLA to meet your needs.

Quest Rapid Recovery (formerly AppAssure)

About the same. Quest support is not as good. Rapid Recovery has Commvault Complete Backup & Recovery beat on email restores, but Commvault Complete Backup & Recovery is a better overall product. Rapid Recovery was better before Quest took them over. I have needed to use Commvault Complete Backup & Recovery support several times. They are very knowledgeable and helped me resolve the question I had in a timely manner.

Support Rating

Excellent support. Their support staff knows the product inside and out. When you need to contact support you don't have to worry about replying on one individual who knows the product. Their support met my needs in a timely manner. If you are looking for a different backup solution because of bad support, Commvault Complete Backup & Recovery will meet that need.

Usability

Not very user friendly. The interface is OK but takes a while to learn and navigate. Once learned, it is not too bad to use. They have an application and HTML version of the console. Not all the options and features are in the HTML version of the console but are supposed to be at some point.

Does an awesome job for file-level restores. I have used it to restore files, folders, emails, and a database. We have not came across anything that is not appropriate for Commvault Complete Backup & Recovery to be backing up. When restoring a file you have to select the path twice, which would be the only negative.

Good choice for an overall backup and replication solution to help keep your data safe.
