Overall Satisfaction with CONTENTdm
We upload collection level records to the platform with a link back to our finding aid and inventory for inclusion in OCLC database.
- Constant URLs
- User interface is good
- Run by OCLC, not likely to disappear
- We use it for getting our collections to the public but also we use it simply as a bridge back to our own database, the rate we pay for the amount of minimum data is quite a bit. Since we do not use it as a digital preservation system I wish the there were lower rates for the type of use we need.
- We are content with the service supplied
- We just wish the cost was lower, since we do not use all of the features
We selected CONTENTdm because it had a good reputation, was used by many institutions, provided a good product, and supplied feedback and monthly reports.
We are wondering about DPLA and if that will be the next evolution or platform.
