Overall Satisfaction with CrashPlan
CrashPlan is currently being used at our organization for all corporate laptops. Users are instructed to keep vital documents and files in one of the backed up locations on the device, and we proceed to keep those around for seven years. We implemented CrashPlan as a replacement for Tivoli CDP as we required something low-maintenance with a user friendly interface.
Pros
- Keeps backups safe and simple.
- Upgrades to keep CrashPlan current are a breeze to apply.
- Customer Service is incredible -- any technical issues we have encountered have been handled quickly and professionally.
Cons
- The user interface in previous versions was confusing to non-technical end users. They have really made improvements on simplifying the client.
- Less time spent maintaining product.
- Users are able to restore their own files with ease.
- Great customer service -- keeps downtime or issues to a bare minimum.
CrashPlan just makes backups simple. It's LDAP integration isn't locked in to only AD (i.e., CommVault) and the product is much more solid and reliable than the end user portion of Tivoli's CDP offering that was replaced in our environment by CrashPlan. I can't stress enough the ease and quality of the product.
