Overall Satisfaction with Db2
We use Db2 in our organization to test the security products to notify customers for any DB related vulnerabilities. We mostly used it in our test and development environments. Also we use Db2 to do performance testing of various scenario involving the Queries per second and to benchmark the product on the Db2 database using various performance bench-marking tools like Sysbench, OLTP, HammerDB etc.
Pros
- Excellent Security features
- Very less Db specific vulnerabilities
- Able to sustain high load
- Excellent Queries per second (QPS) performance (Application Queries)
Cons
- Comparatively difficult to setup the environment (OS dependencies)
- Starting 11.5.x Solaris HPUX is not supported
- Integration with third party tools is difficult
- Cost of setting up the Db2 environment is higher than its competitors (around 25% higher)
- Very limited resources (DBAs) available to manage Db2 servers
- Administrative tasks are more complex than other DBMSs

1. Newly added monitoring interface with a lot of new features are very helpful for decision making and analytics.
2. Transaction log management are better streamlined with new Advanced Log Management feature.
3. Newly added security feature like host based firewall for multi node environment, which further enhances the security capability of the applications
