Overall Satisfaction with Dean Evans and Associates Event Management Software

Dean Evans and Associates Event Management Software (EMS) is used on our college campus for event, academic, athletic, and conference space reservations. The product is managed by my office with dozens of virtual users across campus.
  • EMS provides a comprehensive record of all spaces under request and approved for use.
  • It needs as a basic functionality a calendar view of reserved spaces that the entire user community can view and sort.
  • Self populating email function in the communication pages - those used regularly - similar to Gmail functionality.
  • We're struggling to decide whether or not to keep it. We'd like it to be more streamlined and user friendly.
We use this small system for producing documents to present to clients - quotes, contracts invoices.

We have reviewed Kinetic Calendar, and although it appears more user friendly and easy to understand, it requires far too much manual entry. EMS has more automated functions. Kinetic has a really nice calendar view as a primary element, but to make it really of value every detail needs to be manually input which is unrealistic. In the end we have decided that it would be more worth our time to invest time with EMS to add some of what we want than go with Kinetic which would end up requiring far more work to maintain.
Organizations that have many reservable spaces to track: Very good at tracking space use and resource requests.

Departments that require a smooth, attractive presentation to clients:
Front end functionality and presentation to clients (contracts, billing, etc.) are overly cumbersome and unattractive. Have purchased a separate system for this purpose.
