Overall Satisfaction with Dell PowerConnect Switches
Our strategy is to use 10/100/1000 manageable switches with POE technology for the access topology. We have used the Dell EMC PowerConnect N2000 series of switches to connect devices such as phones and access points and corporate workstations. The switch is very low cost and has much essential management functionality, layer 2 as well as layer 3 with static routes. The 10GbE SFP+ ports we use to interconnect to other racks and to the distribution switch. The switches helped us solve connectivity issues in the different rooms.
Pros
- 10/100/1000 switch with web interface and management CLI. Easy setup.
- Has 10GbE SFP+ port uplinks.
- Supports unit stacking for single IP management.
- Allow to create data and voice VLANs.
- Protection from intruders.
Cons
- Switch is not suitable for Core topology.
- It does not have 40GbE port.
- GUI management via WEB easy and with intuitive interface.
- Gigabit Ethernet ports and 10GbE SFP+ ports for uplink.
- VLANs, RSTP, static routing, DHCP snooping, ARP spoofing, port mirroring.
- Switch stacking with unified management.
- It brought more control and availability of access to end devices with different VLANs.
- Energy savings and product price.
- Connectivity from phones and hotspots.
