Underrated Business Communication Tool
Overall Satisfaction with Discord
Ever since the pandemic started, the whole company switched to Discord for internal communication. Especially in companies that have small independent teams, discord rooms act like real office rooms.
That way, every team can act like they are in a real office. Voice calling, screen sharing, and team rooms are the main reason why Discord is so appealing.

Pros
- Chat Rooms for Inter-team communications
- Screensharing
- High video quality
Cons
- The app can use a lot of CPU and (interestingly) GPU. This has been a long lasting issue and has improved a little lately.
- Fullscreen mode can be hard to navigate.
- Discord has been such a bonus to our productivity. Instead of sending meeting links and starting lengthy email threads, we were able to quickly hop on a call with other people and get things done!
- Some colleagues had to change their PCs as Discord was messing up their system due to the heavy system load.
Previously, we all used Slack. However, Slack is expensive. It doesn't keep message history and you don't have the freedom Discord offers.
I can use the same account for business and personal life without worrying about privacy concerns that I had with Slack (account owners being able to read every single message regardless of which server you're on).
