Overall Satisfaction with DraftSight

Our main CAD software is SOLIDWORKS, and we bought DraftSight in addition for our 2D CAD needs that SOLIDWORKS doesn't manage.
  • Good AutoCAD file compatibility
  • Since the 2016 version, DraftSight is quite stable.
  • Non-Windows environment version has been stopped. (We reduced from 6 to 1 license, as we have only 1 Windows PC remaining in this department.)
  • Roadmap is not clear.
  • Draftsight is used for small project that have no significant influence on our business
On Linux PC, we have replaced DraftSight with ARES, which works fine. We have also tried BrisCAD. It's great software, multi-platform, but according to the users, more difficult to learn for those who already had AutoCAD/DraftSight knowledge.
DraftSight is good software if you need it for 2D CAD, AutoCAD compatible, and no support is needed.

If you need a 2D CAD software for Linux or Mac systems, you'll have to look for another solution.
